In accordance with Coindesk, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins stated in a recent interview that the agency is aiming for a year-end goal in its effort to bring crypto firms under regulatory oversight. Atkins emphasized the need for stable regulatory frameworks to support innovation in the crypto space, including plans for rulemaking on crypto securities exemptions and safe harbors. The SEC has also introduced a generic listing standard for ETPs holding cryptocurrencies and issued informal guidance on various crypto-related topics. Meanwhile, Congress is working on legislation to clarify the roles of the SEC and CFTC in the crypto market.
