Based on Bijié Wǎng, a security breach in September 2025 exposed critical vulnerabilities in the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, with hackers stealing 224.57 ETH and 926 billion SHIB, valued at around $2.4 million. The attack exploited governance flaws in Shibarium, a layer-2 solution, by using flash loans to gain control of over two-thirds of validator votes. The Shiba Inu team responded by freezing staking functions and securing funds in hardware wallets, but the incident highlighted the lack of proactive security measures such as multi-signature validator keys. Analysts warn that 68% of rug pulls in 2025 will target meme coins, urging investors to adopt strict risk management strategies, including position sizing, security audits, and liquidity checks. The Shiba Inu team has taken steps to recover stolen funds and improve security, but daily transaction volume dropped significantly, indicating a loss of user trust.
