How to Unbind or Change Google 2FA

You can reset the Google Authenticator you use for two-factor authentication (2FA) by following the step-by-step guide below.

If you have lost multiple account security settings including Login Password, Email address, Phone number, Google 2FA and Trading password,  please refer to article What are Security Settings and how to reset them

1.1 Rebind 2FA Using Saved Google Security Key

If you saved the Google key during your initial Authenticator setup, you can use it to rebind Google Authenticator on your device. Once rebound, enter the six-digit code to log in to your KuCoin TR account.
 

Step 1: Select the Google verification code for your KuCoin TR account, then press and hold to access the verification code screen.

Step 2: Tap Delete Account in the upper-right corner.

Step 3: Follow the steps in section 2. Linking Google 2FA of this article to re-link your KuCoin TR account and Google Authenticator.

Step 4: Once completed, enter the new six-digit code to log in.

 

 

1.2 If you Bind Account with Email, Manually Unbind Google 2FA (Via App)

Step 1: Select '2FA unavailable?' on the login page.

Step 2: Enter your trading password, along with the email verification code sent to confirm your account. Follow the instructions to complete identity verification and submit a request to have 2FA manually unbound.

1.3  If You Bind Your Account with Phone, Change Google 2FA via SMS Code (via App)

Step 1: Log into the account using your SMS code. Navigate to Avatar, then select Security.

Step 2: Click Change next to Google 2FA. Verify the SMS code, then bind the new Google QR code.

2. Current 2FA Still in Use, but Wish to Switch Authenticator to a New Device

2.1  If You’ve Backed Up the Security Key

Refer to the article How to Enable Google 2FA. Use the saved key to link your Google Authenticator to your new phone, then safely delete the key from your old device.

 

2.1 If You’ve Not Backed Up the Security Key (via App)

Step 1: Log into your KuCoin TR account, then navigate to Account Security.

Step 2: Go to Security Settings and select Google Verification. Click the Change button.

Step 3: Enter the SMS or Google 2FA code sent to you to pass verification.

Step 4: On the Google Verification page, scan the QR code or enter your Google security key manually. Once linked, the app will generate a six-digit code that updates every 30 seconds. Enter this code to complete setup.

If you’ve not backed up the key (Web):
Step 1: Click on the avatar located on the upper right corner and select "Account Security"
 
 
Step 2: Locate Google Verification , click on "Change"
 
 
Step 3: Confirm "change Google Authenticator" and input your old Google 2FA code
 
Step 4: After that, you will see the new Google QR code and secret key. You can either scan the QR code with the new device or manually enter the key to re-bind. Enter the newly acquired code and activate it.

 

 

Note:

a. If you exit the page before clicking Activate, changes to your old 2FA will not be saved and will remain usable.

b. Withdrawals will be disabled for 24 hours after updating your 2FA settings to protect your assets.

c. Once verified and active, the system will automatically unlink your old 2FA, which should be deleted as soon as possible.

d. When completing identity verification, make sure to follow instructions closely and upload all required documents to avoid appeal rejection.

e. The '2FA unavailable?' button is only accessible via the login page in the app. If logged in, you must log out to access this feature.
