Based on U.Today, Polkadot (DOT) has announced a major tokenomics overhaul by capping its total supply at 2.1 billion tokens. The current supply is approximately 1.6 billion, with 500 million new tokens to be minted over the next 135 years. The annual issuance rate is expected to drop from 7.4% to 3.3% by March 2026, aiming to reduce inflation and increase scarcity. Following the announcement, DOT's price rose to $4.06 from $3.94, currently trading at $4.03 with a 1.1% 24-hour increase. The community views the move as bullish, and a $6 price target is being discussed in the medium term.
