​KernelDAO is a restaking protocol on the BNB Chain. It allows you to restake assets like BNB and BTC to enhance security and earn additional rewards. ​

KernelDAO offers three main products:​

The ecosystem is unified by the $KERNEL governance token, which allows you to participate in decision-making and earn rewards. A significant portion of $KERNEL tokens (55%) is allocated for community rewards and airdrops, emphasizing KernelDAO's commitment to its users. 

Security is a priority for KernelDAO. It integrates with over 15 distributed validator networks and offers slashing insurance to protect against potential losses. ​

In April 2025, KernelDAO was featured on Binance Megadrop, providing early access and rewards to participants. ​

​KernelDAO enables you to restake your staked assets, such as BNB and BTC, to enhance security and earn additional rewards. By participating, you contribute to the security of various applications and, in return, receive extra incentives. 

KernelDAO offers three main products:​

> Kernel: This is the primary restaking system on the BNB Chain. It allows you to restake assets like BNB and BTC, improving the security of crypto applications and earning you rewards. Kernel has become the largest restaking project on the BNB Chain, with more than $300 million locked in it. ​

> Kelp: A liquid restaking system that works with yield-generating tokens like stETH and wBETH. "Liquid" means you can use your staked tokens in other DeFi applications even while they are earning rewards. Kelp is connected with over 50 popular DeFi apps like Aave, Spark, and Compound, and has over $2 billion in total value locked. ​

> Gain: This product helps you grow your crypto through automated strategies like yield farming and airdrop farming. You don’t need to lock up your funds or invest a minimum amount. Gain has over $40 million in total value and is suitable for those who want to earn more without managing complex strategies themselves.

The $KERNEL token plays a central role in this ecosystem. You can stake $KERNEL to help secure different crypto applications within KernelDAO. In return, you earn rewards from Kernel and its partner projects. Additionally, $KERNEL holders can vote on important decisions, including protocol upgrades, fees, and future initiatives across KernelDAO’s ecosystem. ​

​KernelDAO is a restaking protocol founded by Amitej Gajjala and Dheeraj Borra. Both previously co-founded Stader Labs, managing over $1 billion in assets. Amitej has an MBA from IIM Calcutta and a Bachelor's from IIT Madras. Dheeraj holds a Bachelor's from IIT Kharagpur and a Master's from the University of Texas at Austin. ​

The KernelDAO mainnet launched on December 10, 2024, achieving approximately $50 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) within a week.

In 2024, KernelDAO raised $10 million in a private sale led by SCB Limited, Laser Digital, and Binance Labs.

The 2025 roadmap includes:​

> Q1 2025: Testnet registration for Distributed Validator Networks (DVNs) and Operators, followed by mainnet registration. 

> Q2 2025: Launch of operator's test network and expansion of Gain to stablecoin and BTC vaults. ​

> Q3 2025: Launch of operator's mainnet and intermediary software test network. 

> Q4 2025 and beyond: Launch of intermediary software mainnet and expansion into various asset classes on Real World Assets (RWA). ​

​The $KERNEL token serves multiple purposes within the KernelDAO ecosystem:​

1. Governance: You can use $KERNEL to vote on important decisions across KernelDAO's products—Kernel, Kelp, and Gain. This includes protocol upgrades, fee structures, and network expansion plans. ​

2. Restaking Security: By staking $KERNEL, you contribute to the economic security of applications within the Kernel ecosystem. ​

3. Slashing Insurance: Your staked $KERNEL can act as collateral against potential slashing risks, providing an added layer of security. ​

4. Rewards: Staking $KERNEL allows you to earn rewards from partner protocols and middleware. ​

5. Liquidity Provision: You can provide $KERNEL liquidity on automated market makers (AMMs) to earn additional rewards. ​
